FULL TIME MAGISTRATE APPLICATION NOW BEING ACCEPTED

Chief Magistrate Kristina Hammer Blum is pleased to announce the opening of one full time Magistrate Judge position.

To meet the minimum legal qualifications (O.C.G.A. § 15-10-22 and § 15-6-4), each Applicant must:
(a) be at least 30 years of age;
(b) have been a citizen of the State of Georgia for at least three (3) years;
(c) be a citizen of the United States;
(d) have been a member, in good standing, of the State Bar of Georgia for at least seven (7) years;
(e) be a registered voter; and
(f) have been a resident of Gwinnett County for for at least two (2) years.

To be eligible for consideration, a completed Application Package must be received by the Administrative Office of the Courts on or before 4:00 PM on October 9, 2026. using one of the following methods:

Or


• Submit thirteen (13) unbound paper copies of the completed Application Package to:

The Application Package must include:

• A cover letter and résumé;
• A completed Magistrate Court Application & Questionnaire;
• A signed Authorization for Access Form;
• A completed Judicial Ethics Quiz;
• A writing sample.

The Magistrate Court Application/Questionnaire and Judicial Ethics Quiz can be accessed through the links below. Hard copies may be obtained from the Administrative Office of the Courts, located on the third floor of the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center . Even if you have applied in the past, you must submit a new Application Package to be considered.

Magistrate Court's jurisdiction encompasses civil claims of $15,000 or less, county ordinance violations, applications for and issuance of arrest and search warrants, preliminary hearings, dispossessory writs, and distress warrants. No jury trials are held in this court. Appeals from decisions in landlord, tenant and civil cases are made to the Superior and State courts.
